Introducing the OptiCEPT® S7 PEF System – Next-Generation PEF for Solid Food Processing

OptiCept Technologies, in collaboration with FPS Food Process Solutions, is proud to launch the new S7 PEF system for solid food products such as potatoes and dehydration of fruit and vegetables.

OptiCept Technologies, in collaboration with FPS Food Process Solutions, is proud to launch the new S7 PEF system for solid food products such as potatoes and dehydration of fruit and vegetables. The patented OptiCEPT® Solid Series combines a hygienic design with robust construction and advanced PEF (Pulsed Electric Field) technology, ensuring optimal treatment while maintaining energy efficiency with a minimal footprint.

Key Advantages of the OptiCEPT® Solid Series:

Reduces cutting force, resulting in smoother cuts.

Reduces drying times and energy consumption.

Improves extraction yield and quality while shortening extraction times.

Lowers freezing times and energy use.

Our technology has achieved remarkable progress, making a significant impact in high-quality extraction (like olive oil and juices), reducing drying times for vegetables, and most notably, delivering smooth, clean cuts for the French fry industry.

We’re already seeing promising opportunities across various food sectors and are eager to collaborate with customers in these fields. I’m extremely proud of the hard work and expertise our team has invested in developing the next generation of PEF systems. It’s truly state-of-the-art, offering several key benefits to the solid food sector.”

The OptiCEPT® S7 PEF System – Designed for Excellence

The OptiCEPT® S7 PEF System

When developing the S7 PEF system, OptiCept and FPS focused on addressing key concerns commonly associated with PEF treatments. Customer needs are always our priority; this was our guiding principle during the design phase.

Concerns addressed include:

  • High investment and operating costs
  • Large system footprint
  • Inconsistent treatment quality
  • Downtime issues

Our Approach – The Next Generation PEF System, OptiCEPT® S7

Cost efficient design of PEF generators ensures a lower investment cost and the unique design of the system ensures low operating costs.

While PEF systems are generally energy-efficient, many still consume significant power and take up considerable floor space. Some systems even require transformer oil for cooling, which means additional investment in fire-protected rooms. The OptiCEPT® S7 addresses these issues with its compact, energy-efficient design that saves space and minimizes power consumption.

Consistency is crucial for ensuring high-quality results, whether processing potatoes or dehydrating carrots. The patented PEF treatment chamber in the S7 system features a dual conveyor belt system, which ensures that products, like potatoes, are fully submerged during treatment. This leads to higher energy efficiency and lower power usage compared to traditional single-conveyor systems. The dual-lift conveyors also simplify maintenance and cleaning processes.

Many PEF systems suffer from reliability issues that cause maintenance delays and production stoppages, leading to potential profit loss. The OptiCEPT® S7 is specifically designed to reduce downtime risk. It includes multiple generators that operate below maximum capacity, allowing for maintenance without disrupting production. Built-in short-circuit protection ensures that unaffected generators can continue to function without halting the production process.

“Industries are evolving toward better food processing methods that increase yield and quality while focusing on reducing food waste and enhancing sustainability. Our mission is to give our customers options for producing top-quality products for consumers worldwide,”
