Beetroots has risen to superfood status over the last decade

Beetroots have gotten status as what we call “superfood”. And righteously so.

Among the health benefits researched has shown that lowered blood pressure could be one benefit. As nitrates in beets convert to nitric oxide gas – it widens and relaxes blood vessels.

Stamina can also be affected. Beet juice increases plasma nitrate levels and boosts physical performance.

The same goes for muscle power: Nitrates in beet juice increase muscle power in people with weak hearts. Potassium and other electrolytes help muscles and nerves work properly.

Other interesting research has shown that drinking beet juice increases blood flow to the brain in older people, a finding that suggests that the red vegetable may fight the progression of dementia.

Reduced cholesterol: Beetroot (flavonoids) lowered total cholesterol and triglycerides and increased HDL, or “good,” cholesterol. It also reduced oxidative stress on the liver.

The antioxidant betaine potentially helps prevent or reduce fatty deposits in the liver.

Cancer prevention: Betalains (free radical scavengers) in beet juice have chemo-preventive abilities against some cancer cell lines.

Moreover: Beet juice is straight-up low calories-zero fat, nutrient boost and energy-packed drink.
