Positive Results for Industrial Evaluation of oatCEPT

A pilot test for industrial CEPT® treatment of oat milk has now been carried out with positive results.

New application oatCEPT

OptiCept has achieved positive results in treating oat milk with CEPT®. The treatment chamber has now been optimized and qualified through pilot tests on an industrial scale. These tests have now been confirmed and carried out with very positive results.

“It is very gratifying that we now have succeeded in further developing the technology to work in an industrial environment. We look forward to confirming the good results we have seen in our lab tests to be ready for the next step in the launch of this exciting product area.” says Thomas Lundqvist, CEO of OptiCept Technologies.

oatCEPT – A True Game-changer

oatCEPT provides enhanced foaming ability, emulsion stability and reduced need for added enzymes in oat milk.

The next step will be to analyse the currently industrially produced product to confirm the positive influence of the oatCEPT in the process. Results of this analysis are expected this summer. Once the positive outcome has been confirmed, oatCEPT will be launched commercially.

Oat Milk – A Promising Market

The global oat milk market is expected to grow by 14.2% from 2020 to 2028.

Health-conscious consumers and a rising vegan population make the oat milk market a very promising market in the near future. The demand for plant-based milk has benefitted the production of oat milk. Oat milk is allergic-free and comes with several health benefits.

Growing cases of lactose intolerance and milk allergies are major factors for the growing significance of oat milk. Oat milk contains a lot of valuable fibers and vitamins, such as beta-glucan. This fiber can lower blood levels of cholesterol, which in its turn reduces the risk of heart disease. Vitamins that oat milk can provide are vitamin B, iron, calcium, and minerals like magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, zinc, and copper.

Oat milk is popular among younger generations and has found its way into cafés. Many baristas prefer oat milk because of its good foaming ability.

The customer buying behaviour changed over the last decades with the aim to support animal protection. Furthermore, oat milk being rich in protein also attracts people interested in workout.

Overall, with the population growing more concious for nutritious food and an immune health system, oat milk has replaced animal milk for many people and will continue doing so in the near future.

The largest revenue share in 2020 was held by the Asia Pacific.

Health, environmental and ethical factors contribute to the growth of the oat milk market. Oats being much more sustainable than almond, soy and coconut for instance strengthens the position of oat milk on the market. Compared to animal milk, the shelf life of oat milk is much longer, which is a great advantage as well.
